October 2015

Intertank cleans tanks for BPA, British Pipeline Agency.

Petrol tanks cleaned and gas freed for safe inspection.

BPA contracted Intertank to gas free and clean two petrol tanks at their Stanlow pumping station and supply the safety rescue crew to allow the inspection team to carry out internal inspections to all the tank welds. Tanks had previously contained leaded motor spirit.

September 2015

Swalwell pipe bridge blast cleaned.

Intertank blast clean riveted bridge structure to remove old LEAD based paint from 150 year old Pipe Bridge. The riveted stricter was a complicated and difficult job due to restricted access. Years of old paint was blast cleaned from the structure ready from the new protective paint system to be applied.

January 2015.

Acid plant Cleaned & Decommissioned

Ashbrook Construction. Awarded Intertank the contract to clean and decommission a redundant Phosphate plant as part of a refurbishment project at Merlin Way, New York industrial estate.

Works involved the cleaning and removal of storage tanks, Silos and pipe work containing Phosphoric acid, Caustic Soda to name but a few dangerous and hazardous chemicals.

The project also included the cleaning up of 16 tonnes of spilt phosphate and caustic residues. A total of 22 tonnes of highly hazardous waste was removed from site for safe disposal to a licences waste disposal facility.

Works was complete safely and to the full satisfaction of the main contractor.

2014

Intertank clean Metro Stations.

Brims Construction. Contracted Intertank to high pressure steam clean platforms and all associated concrete surfaces on the Tyne & Wear Metro Stations.

As this works was on a live line all employees had to undergo PTS Training and the works had to be carried out of hours. The biggest health and safety issue was making sure the public was safe during the works, as it was not possible to completely close off all of the access areas to the public.

2011

Toffee Factory, Ousburn, Newcastle.

Intertank help in the refurbishment of the former Toffee work.

Brims Construction, appointed Intertank to blast clean and paint all internal steal support structures and clean some 4,000m2 of brick work to its former glory.

This project involved the removal of heavy rust from the internal steel beams by blast cleaning to SA2.5 standards. And recoating with a protective paint system.

This process involved the use of some 23 tonnes of grit blast.The brick work was cleaned using a combination of chemical cleaning and soft abrasive blasting.

2005

Cleaning of Saint Nicholas Hospital.

Laing O'Rourke contracted Intertank to carefully chemical clean the sand stone on this great looking, grade 2 listed building. As you can see from the before and after pictures the results are unbelievable.

1998

Market Dock South Shields.

Edmond Nuttall Construction.

Cleaning of a former dry dock that had been converted in to an oil storage tank to store waste fuel oils from ships in for repair. The dock was 60m long and 20m deep.

Intertank was contracted to de-sludge and clean all surfaces of the dock tank and remove waste from site for safe disposal. This was a difficult project as the waste had built up in the bottom of the dock over the past 50 years of constant use. Intertank removed from site a total of 900 tonnes of oily contaminated waste. Then set about de-sludging and steam cleaning the dock bottom and walls. A process that lasted 6 weeks.
